Po-Ru Loh receives NIH Director’s New Innovator Award

Po-Ru Loh has been selected for a 2018 NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, which supports “unusually innovative research from early career investigators.” The proposed project (“Revealing Somatic Genome Alterations and Their Clinical Sequelae: Ultrasensitive Computational Detection of Mosaic Structural Variants” / DP2-ES030554) will develop and apply a novel approach to somatic structural variant (SV) detection – based on statistical haplotype phasing rather than new experimental techniques – that will allow highly sensitive detection of mosaic SVs (at fractions as low as 0.1%) in all forms of genomic data.
